London, Canada – All that remains unknown now is whether Reeves, who has spent more than one-third of his nine-year policing career on paid suspension, will resign or be fired., either way his career ends Wednesday.
The Ontario Civilian Police Commission rejected a final attempt by Reeves, 35, to retain his position, upholding a tribunal’s ruling from October 21st, 2019.
The commission’s decision February 24th reinforces the punishment delivered by hearings officer Greg Walton that Reeves resign within seven days or face termination after pleading guilty to five counts of professional misconduct related to abusing drugs and misusing an internal police data base.
Chief Steve Williams said the police service is aware of the commission’s ruling.
Williams released a statement, “In accordance with the hearing officer’s disposition, which was upheld by the commission, Mr. Reeves was provided seven days to resign, after which, if he does not resign, his employment with the London Police Service will be terminated.”
