Off duty Toronto police officer shows up to escort meeting with gun

Toronto, Canada – A Toronto police officer has been charged criminally after allegedly hiring a prostitute and showing up to their appointment while displaying a firearm.

According to a news release from York Regional Police, a woman informed investigators on March 31 she had been contacted by a man who arranged to meet her for sexual Service ices at a hotel.

When the man got there, he was wearing a gun, and informed her that he was a police officer. The woman got upset and asked him to leave. Officials say the officer was off duty at the time.

On April 2, Travis Houston, 37, a serving police officer with Toronto Police Service was arrested. He was subsequently charged with obtaining sexual services for consideration, mischief and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Toronto police said Houston is a constable working at 41 division, and has been with the force for two years.

He was suspended with pay, as per the Police Services Act.
