Teenage girls charged with murder after Uber Eats driver dies during carjacking

Washington, USA – Two teen females have been charged in the death of an Uber Eats driver this week in Washington, D.C., after a car jacking turned deadly.

Mohammad Anwar, 66, of Springfield, Virginia, was killed Tuesday, during the incident, near Nationals Park, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

Anwar was employed as an Uber Eats driver, his family says in a GoFundMe page they set up.

“We are devastated by this tragic news and our hearts go out to Mohammad’s family during this difficult time. We’re grateful the suspects have been arrested and thank the Metropolitan Police Department for their diligence with this investigation,” commented an Uber spokesperson.

The girls, aged 13 and 15, used a Taser on Anwar whilst carjacking him, which subsequently led to an accident in which he received fatal injures.

The girls were charged with felony murder and armed carjacking.

Anwar immigrated from Pakistan in 2014, his family stated on there GoFundMe page adding, “He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend who always provided a smile when you needed one. He leaves behind a family, near and far, who cherish, love, and miss him dearly.”
