Toronto Police now ticketing cyclists for speeding

2019 tragicaly saw forty-two pedestrians lose their lives to aggressive driving on the busy streets of Toronto, Canada, which makes Toronto Police and City Cllr. Mark Grimes’ latest anti-speeding initiative that more confusing.

Last week, the officers from 22 Division posted photos to Facebook showing officers using laser speed detection devices, usually used to identify speeding cars used to stop and ticket cyclists in Etobicoke.

The pictures also showed several signs that indicate a speed limit of 20 km per hour for cyclists along with a message saying “Slow down.”

Since the Facebook posting the pictures have gone viral on social media receiving nothing but criticism.

In response to some of the angry messages flooding in on social media, and there have been hundreds, Toronto police responded that the initiative was meant to raise awareness.
