Belleville, Canada – Charges have been laid against two Belleville Police officers related to an incident this past September.
According to the SIU, on September 22, three men were arrested after Belleville Police executed a search warrant at a Coleman Street residence.
One man later complained of pain and was taken to hospital, where he was diagnosed with serious injuries.
As a result of the SIU investigation, Constable Matthew Sweet and Sergeant Kyle King have been charged with assault causing bodily harm.
They appear before the court March 18.
The SIU says now that the matter is before the court, they will not be commenting further at this time.
