Multiple gunmen opened fire with automatic weapons in central Vienna, killing at least one person and wounding multiple others, including a police officer.
One attacker had been confirmed killed by police.
At least 15 people were wounded in the attack and were being treated in hospitals. At least seven of those injured were stated to be in serious, according to Vienna’s mayor.
“It is definitely a terror attack,” stated Austria’s chancellor, Sebastian Kurz.
And late Monday, the incident was not over.
Mr Kurz continued, “The police managed to eliminate one perpetrator, but there are still several perpetrators at large.”
