Wolfe City Police officer arrested and charged with murder in the death of Jonathan Price


22-year-old white Wolfe City Police officer, Shaun Lucas was arrested in the shooting death of Black man, Jonathan Price. Wolfe City Police Department also fired Lucas.

A spokesperson for Wolfe City categorized Luca’s behavior as an “egregious violation of the city’s police and department’s policies,” in a released statement.

Price, 31, was killed on Saturday night at a local gas station after he stopped to intervene in a domestic dispute. Texas Rangers said Price resisted in a “non-threatening posture and began walking away” when Lucas fired his stun gun before then firing his service pistol at Price.

Lawyers for Lucas’ maintain their client acted in accordance with Texas laws and categorized Price as dangerous, further claiming he attempted to take Lucas’ taser.

As Black communities grappled with another shooting death, calls for justice rang out over the weekend and into this week. in

Social media campaigned for justice for Price as his family and friends described him as a family man, mentor and supportive friend.

Initial critics of Price subsequently voiced condolences and concern after a series of Price’s past social media posts showed that he was supportive of police.
