York, Canada – Sexual assault and exploitation charges have been laid against a York Regional Police officer.
On March 1st, 2021, York Regional Police requested that Toronto Police conduct an independent investigation into the officers following allegations of sexual assault.
On March 5th, 2021, the Toronto Police Sex Crimes, Child and Youth Advocacy Centre charged the officer with sexual assault and sexual exploitation.
The officer cannot be named in order to protect the identity of the victim.
The officer has been employed with York Regional Police since 2004 and will be suspended pending the outcome of the court process.
